Clayton’s classic margarita is so iconic and beloved that we decided it needed a festive twist! Enter Clayton’s Holiday Margarita!

Since you all love the original Clayton’s Margarita recipe (it’s continuously one of my most popular blog posts!), I thought it would be fun to add this simple twist to the classic recipe just like we did with Clayton’s Grapefruit Margarita. It doesn’t take rocket science to make a tweak or two to his original recipe, but ’tis the season to have some fun and give everything a little holiday spirit! A little pomegranate juice, a sprig of rosemary — and ho, ho, ho the perfect holiday cocktail!

If you are not familiar with the original recipe, don’t let the egg whites scare you! Bartenders often use egg whites in their crafted cocktails to help create that delicious foam cap. It might seem strange, but it is one of my favorite parts of the recipe! And you don’t even need to get the blender out to create the foam. If you’re making a small batch and do not want to mess with the blender, simply add all of the ingredients to your shaker and shake away until you begin to create the foam.
It’s also such an easy recipe to scale up for a crowd, which makes it perfect for holiday entertaining!
ingredients:
- Tequila
- Cointreau
- Simple Syrup
- Fresh Lime Juice
- Unsweetened Pomegranate Juice
- Egg Whites
- Flaky Salt
step-by-step:
step one: blend the ingredients
In a large blender, combine the tequila, Cointreau, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, pomegranate juice, and egg whites in a high-powered blender. Blend until very frothy, 30 seconds to 1 minute.
step two: pour and serve
Pour over a salt-rimmed glass filled with ice. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and serve!
Absolutely! Mezcal has a smoky flavor that I just love and I think it would add a whole other layer of flavor to this tart, herbaceous cocktail.
Look for unsweetened pure pomegranate juice from a good brand like POM Wonderful.
I hope y’all shake up some of Clayton’s Holiday Margaritas at all of your end of year parties! Comment below and let me know what you think of this drink!
