Finding a healthy, yummy appetizer to serve at parties when eating Whole30/paleo can seem tricky. You find yourself serving veggies with a dip all the time but let’s change things up a bit shall we? These Tuna Temaki (Tuna Hand Rolls) are adorable, delicious, and are sure to impress your guests. Not to mention, they couldn’t be easier to make! All you have to do is spend a little time assembling these before your guests come over and they’ll think you are so fancy!
Whole30 or not, Tuna Temaki is sure to please all your guests! Plus, you can totally fill this up with anything your heart desires. In fact! I plan on rolling some up next weekend for gameday with my Tuna tartare! Say what? Now that is going to be GOOD.
So whip these Tuna Temaki (Tuna Hand Rolls) up soon! and you can even make these for lunch to change things up a bit! Enjoy!
- 2 can water-packed tuna (I like to use Wildplanet brand)
- 2 green onions, sliced thinly (white part only)
- 2 tbsp. homemade or compliant mayo
- salt and pepper, to to taste
- 4 sheets of nori (toasted seaweed)
- 1 english cucumber (or 2 Persian cucumbers), cut into matchsticks
- 1 large carrot, cut into matchsticks
- 1 serrano pepper, sliced very thinly (optional if you like spicy!)
- 1/2 cup cilantro leaves or cilantro microgreens
- In a bowl, combine the (drained) tuna, mayo, sliced onion, with some salt and pepper, to taste. Mix until well combined.
- Next, cut sheets of nori into quarters.
- Place nori shiny side down, place about a tablespoon of the tuna mixture on the lower corner of the nori, a stick or two of carrots and cucumber, a slice of serrano, and few sprigs of cilantro.
- Roll up the hand roll into a cone shape, starting at the lower left-hand corner. (sometimes, the nori doesn't seal. If this happens, run a finger dipped in water along the seam to seal.) Repeat for the other sheets and serve immediately!
