Not to toot my own horn, but my friends and family tell me that my Perfect Guacamole is the best they’ve ever had.

perfect guacamole

I hate to be a guac snob, but do not buy pre-packaged guacamole from the grocery store for your party. It doesn’t stand a chance next to fresh, homemade guacamole—and it doesn’t take much time at all to make it from scratch.

When it comes to guacamole, it is all about using fresh ingredients (avocados, tomatoes, garlic, and onions) for the best and brightest flavor. I like to add a little bit of ground cumin for some warmth, plus lime juice for tang.

Serve my Perfect Guacamole with your favorite grain-free tortilla chips for a paleo-friendly chip and guac fix. If you’re doing a Whole30, make a big veggie platter with carrot and celery sticks, sliced radishes, broccoli florets, and any other veggie you can get your hands on for dipping. It’s the ultimate snack for game day or casual gatherings.

ingredients:

  • Ripe, Hass Avocados
  • Kosher Salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • Ground Cumin
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Jalapeño Pepper
  • Tomato
  • Red Onion
  • Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • Grain-Free Tortilla Chips, For Serving
  • Crudité, For Serving

step-by-step:

step one: prep the avocado

Remove the pit from each of the avocados and scoop the flesh into a large bowl, separating it from the skin.

step two: add the remaining ingredients

Add the salt, pepper, cumin, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño peppers, tomatoes, red onions, and lime juice.

step three: mash the avocado and mix

Using the back of a spoon, stir and mash up the avocado until it is all combined with the ingredients and it reaches your desired consistency.

step four: season and serve

Season to taste with more salt, if needed. Serve with chips and crudité and enjoy!

What’s the best way to prevent guacamole from browning?

I like to drizzle a little bit of extra lime juice over the guacamole, which helps to prevent it from turning brown. Cover it tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap against the guacamole, and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.

how can i ripen my avocados quickly?

My go-to hack for ripening avocados is placing them in a brown paper bag with a ripe banana (yes, really!), close the bag tightly, and store at room temperature. Within a day or two, your avocados should be perfectly ripe.

I hope y’all love my Perfect Guacamole as much as my crew does. Comment below once you’ve tried it and let me know what you think!

  1. SO SO SO good! I have made this twice in that past week for different audiences and it has disappeared within 15 minutes each time — just a sign that I will be doubling the batch next time! The cumin adds so much, I will never make another guac recipe again besides this one. Highly recommend trying it!
