Tinto de Verano (Spanish Summer Wine Cocktail)

Prep Time5 minutes
Servings: 12

Ingredients

  • 3 bottles light fruity red wine, chilled (see note)
  • 1 2-liter bottle lemon-lime soda (Sprite, 7-Up, or even Fresca)
  • 4 lemons, sliced into ¼-inch rounds (sub orange if preferred!)
  • 1 large bag of ice

Instructions

Set up the Station:

  • Arrange the wine, chilled soda, a bowl of ice with tongs, a small plate of lemon rounds, and a stack of glasses on a table or wherever guests can serve themselves. Keep the wine and soda cold in a cooler or large ice bucket, if possible!

Build a Glass:

  • Fill a glass with ice. Pour in the red wine, filling the glass about three-quarters full. Top with a splash of lemon-lime soda, add a lemon round.

Notes

Wine Note: A Spanish Garnacha or a French Beaujolais work great here!
Hosting Tip: Make the first one in front of your first guest to show them the ratio, then let everyone pour their own. It's meant to be self-serve — that's half the charm and all of the ease.
