Alexa Making Your 2020 Easier Than Ever x GIVEAWAY

This post is a paid partnership with Amazon Devices & Services. Opinions and recipes are my own.

If you’ve been following along with my book launch and tour, you know 2020 has been off to an incredible, but hectic, start! Throughout every accomplishment, big or small, I’ve been met with incredible support from #thedefineddish community.

Because of that, I want to give back by teaming up with Amazon to give away my absolute favorite cooking gadget + sous-chef in my kitchen — my Echo Show 8. With the help of Amazon’s #DeliveringSmiles program, we will be giving one lovely winner a signed copy of my new cookbook alongside Echo Show 8! Keep reading for how you can enter to win.

Whether you are looking to clean up your eating habits in your home, try out your first Whole30 or just get into the kitchen more, the Echo Show can help you in so many ways this year! From keeping track of timers so you don’t burn your first roast chicken to maintaining your grocery list or finding recipes with step-by-step cooking instructions, Alexa can make your 2020 easier than ever!

Commonly Used Commands:

Kitchen Timers

Alexa, set my chicken timer for 30 minutes.

My most-used Alexa command remains the timer! If I am working on a variety of tasks in the kitchen, it’s much easier to ask Alexa to set my timer to keep me on track. It’s even possible for Alexa to set multiple timers to have each part of my recipe cook perfectly. All I do is specify what I am cooking, like ‘chicken timer’ or ‘potato timer.’

Grocery Lists

Alexa, add thyme to my grocery list.

While I am in the kitchen developing new recipes, I am often inspired for another recipe I want to try later in the week. When the creativity strikes, I can easily ask Alexa to add specific ingredients to my grocery list so I do not forget anything on my next trip to the store. I simply ask Alexa to add an ingredient to my grocery list and it appears on my Alexa app for easy access on my next store visit.

Recipe Inspiration

Alexa, show me recipes for roasted chicken.

Whether you’re starting from scratch, need some ideas using ingredients you already have or simply want to know the best cooking technique for an idea you already have, your sous-chef Alexa is here to help. All you have to do is ask Alexa to show you recipes for something specific, like roasted chicken, and swipe through to find the recipe that best suits your needs. After that, you will be guided by Alexa, step-by-step, to complete the recipe of your choice.

Whole30 Alexa Skill

Alexa, ask Whole30 if potatoes are okay to eat.

If you’re new to Whole30 this year or it has been a while since your last one, you are bound to have questions! From asking Alexa to explain the program to asking if specific foods are compliant, the Whole30 Alexa Skill is here to make your Whole30 experience easier. Just enable the Whole30 Alexa Skill in the Alexa app to get started.
